SPARTAN RACE BRIGHT obstacle race 2018 November 17th-18th.
Spartan Bright obstacle racing competitors had to run through bush, up and down some good size hills, across stony rivers and scramble over obstacles. This Spartan super, 15klm, was the last race in the national series to decide who took the crown. Tony Curtis was sitting first equal on points with Lachlan Dansie , 3 points ahead of Quinton Gill. Tony hadn’t fully recovered from competing at the #OCR world champs recovered from the world titles but hoping to pull out a good race to seal the win.
However it doesn’t matter how good you are or how fit when the race doesn’t go your way and you go the wrong way twice thus adding about 3 minutes to his overall race time. This broke his focus and missing the spar throw, 30 burpees later. He was not a happy chappie and finished 6th in the elite. This is what makes obstacle racing so exciting and interesting as the race is never over until it is won. His disastrous race meant he didn’t get the national title but still managing third place in the overall National series.
Glen Curtis hadn’t been able to put the required training as his lawn mowing business was flat out. Despite this he still managed 9th place on the day, not sure of his National placing as yet but always happy to finish in the top ten elite.
